Complete Protection Package
Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 19, 2026
This policy explains how The Captain’s Warehouse LLC, doing business as EverWatch Systems (“EverWatch”, “we”, “us” or “our”), handles personal information. It covers:
- the EverWatch app for iPhone and Android;
- the EverWatch controller and our vessel monitoring service, including the web portal at portal.geteverwatch.com;
- our website and online store at geteverwatch.com.
We call these the “Services”. By using the Services, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
1. Who we are
The Captain’s Warehouse LLC, doing business as EverWatch Systems
601 Heritage Dr, Suite 153A
Jupiter, FL 33458, USA
Email: privacy@geteverwatch.com
We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. The service providers listed in section 6 handle it on our behalf.
2. Information we collect
Your account
- Your name and email address.
- How you sign in: email and password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive Apple’s relay address instead.
- An internal user ID that we assign to your account.
- Your role on each vessel (owner, admin or member) and the invitations you send or receive.
Store purchases, plans and payments
- When you buy from our store or choose a plan, we collect your name, email address, billing and shipping address, phone number, what you ordered, your controller’s serial number and your plan.
- Payments are handled by our payment processors, Stripe and PayPal. We never see or store your full card number.
- To let you manage auto-renewal, we keep a reference to your payment account and your card’s brand, last four digits and expiry date.
- We keep a record of your plan, renewals and transactions.
Your vessel and its controller
The EverWatch controller installed on your boat sends us information about the boat.
- Precise location (GPS). This includes:
- the boat’s current position;
- a track of where it has been;
- positions reported while an anchor alarm or geofence is set.
The controller has no setting to turn location off. GPS is required for the map, the anchor alarm, the geofence and other position features.
- Engine and systems data from the boat’s NMEA 2000 network. This includes engine hours, RPM, temperatures, pressures, fuel and tank levels, batteries, wind and heading, and the make and model of connected equipment.
- Sensor readings and alarms. This includes cabin temperature, humidity and air pressure, battery voltage, motion and impacts, and bilge, float, shore-power, door, smoke and motion sensors.
- Controller and connection information. This includes the controller’s serial number, cellular modem ID (IMEI), SIM card ID (ICCID), firmware version, error and crash diagnostics, Wi-Fi network name, signal strength and monthly cellular data use.
If the controller loses its connection, it stores readings on the boat and sends them later.
During setup, the Wi-Fi password you enter goes from your phone to the controller over Bluetooth and is stored on the controller. It is not sent to our servers.
Information you add
- Vessel details and settings: vessel name, home position, geofence, anchor alarm and alert settings.
- Alert contacts: the name, email address, mobile number, time zone and allowed alert hours of each person you want alerted.
- If you add someone other than yourself, you must have their permission to give us their details and for EverWatch to contact them by push notification, email, text message or phone call.
- Vessel members: the email addresses of people you invite to a vessel.
- SmartLog maintenance log: entries, tasks, notes, equipment details (including model and serial numbers), engine hours, vendors, costs and spare parts.
- Photos and documents: photos, invoices, PDFs and other files you attach.
A photo may contain details such as names, addresses or prices. It may also carry location data that your camera saved in the file.
From your phone
- Location: only if you choose “use my location” to set a vessel’s home position, and only while the app is open.
- Camera and photos: only when you scan a controller’s QR code, take a photo or choose photos to attach.
- Bluetooth: only to set up a controller. On some older Android phones, the system requires location permission for Bluetooth setup. We do not use it to collect your location.
- Push notifications: a push token and an app installation ID for your phone, so we can send alerts to it.
Support and communications
When you contact us, we keep your messages and the details you give us, such as your name, email, phone number and vessel.
Collected automatically
- Server logs. Our servers record technical information such as IP addresses, request details and errors. We use it for security and troubleshooting.
- Website. geteverwatch.com and our store use cookies that are needed for your cart, checkout and sign-in. The website also uses Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel (see “Website analytics and advertising” below). These are on the website only, not in the EverWatch app or the controller.
- Maps. Maps in the app are loaded from Mapbox. To send you the right map images, Mapbox receives your device’s IP address and the area being viewed. We have turned off Mapbox’s usage and location data collection in the app.
- Sign-in providers. If you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, that company handles the sign-in under its own privacy policy. Google’s sign-in software may collect limited device and usage information for that purpose.
Website analytics and advertising
Our website, geteverwatch.com, uses:
- Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are visited and where visitors come from;
- the Meta Pixel, to measure how our Facebook and Instagram ads perform and to show our ads to people who visited the site.
These tools use cookies and similar technology to collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, actions on the site (for example adding to cart or completing a purchase) and cookie identifiers. Google and Meta receive this information and may combine it with other information they hold, under their own privacy policies.
Under some US state privacy laws, using the Meta Pixel for advertising can count as “sharing” personal information for targeted advertising. You can opt out:
- use the cookie settings on geteverwatch.com, or email privacy@geteverwatch.com with the subject “Do not share”;
- turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we treat as an opt-out;
- adjust your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings;
- install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block cookies in your browser.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information for money.
- In the EverWatch app and on the controller, we do not use analytics or advertising tools, advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking, and we do not show ads.
- We never use your vessel data, location, alerts, log entries or AI content for advertising.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- monitor your vessel and show its status, location and history in the app and portal;
- send alerts by push notification, email, text message and phone call, including repeat calls for critical alarms that are not acknowledged;
- run SmartLog, including maintenance reminders and task suggestions from your vessel’s data, and AI invoice reading if you allow it (section 4);
- create and manage your account and vessel memberships;
- process orders, plans, renewals and payments, and manage the controller’s cellular data allowance;
- deliver firmware updates;
- send service messages, such as invitations, password resets, data-use and allowance notices, renewal and payment notices, and important changes to the Services;
- provide support;
- keep the Services secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems;
- comply with law and enforce our terms.
We do not use information from the app, the controller or your vessel for advertising. The website analytics and ad tools described in section 2 apply only to geteverwatch.com. Our alert and service emails may record whether they were delivered, opened or a link in them was clicked, using a small image and tracked links from our email provider (Amazon SES). We use this only to confirm alerts reached you and to improve delivery, never for advertising.
4. AI processing (SmartLog AI)
SmartLog AI can read a maintenance invoice and fill in a log entry for you to check. It uses the Claude AI model from Anthropic, PBC, one of our service providers.
We ask for your permission first. Before anything is sent to Anthropic for the first time, the app asks you, personally, whether to allow AI processing. This is separate from the vessel-level SmartLog AI setting. If you say no, nothing is sent and you can enter the details yourself.
To withdraw your permission, go to Account → Privacy → AI processing in the app. Nothing more will be sent after that.
What is sent. We send:
- the photo or PDF you choose;
- your vessel’s equipment list (equipment type, the name you gave it, model and serial number).
We don’t send your name, email address, vessel name or location with the request. The invoice itself may show names, addresses, phone numbers or prices.
What Anthropic does with it.
- Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, it may not use this content to train its models.
- Anthropic currently deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days. It may keep them longer where needed to enforce its usage policies or to comply with law.
- We have asked Anthropic for zero data retention. We will update this policy if that changes how long Anthropic keeps your content.
What we keep.
- the file you uploaded and the resulting log entry, until they are deleted (section 8);
- Claude’s raw response, for 30 days, so we can investigate reading errors.
What does not use outside AI. Maintenance reminders and task suggestions from your vessel’s data are calculated on our own servers.
If we add other AI features, we will describe them here and ask for your permission before they process your information.
5. How information is shared
With people on your vessel. Owners, admins and members of a vessel can see that vessel’s data, location, alerts and log, according to their role. The people you add as alert contacts receive alert messages about the vessel.
With service providers. We share information with the service providers in section 6. They process it on our behalf.
For legal reasons and safety. We may disclose information if we believe it is required by law, legal process or a government request, or needed to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or EverWatch.
Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred. This policy, or one at least as protective, will continue to apply to it.
With your direction. We share information when you ask us to, for example when you share a log export or link.
6. Our service providers
We use these providers to run the Services. They may use personal information only to provide their services to us, and must protect it.
| Provider | What they do for us |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase | Sign-in, live vessel data and push notifications |
| Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Servers and databases (EC2), file storage (S3), controller connectivity (AWS IoT Core) and email delivery (Amazon SES). Hosted in the US East region |
| Twilio | Text-message and phone-call alerts |
| Anthropic | AI invoice reading, only with your permission (section 4) |
| Google Analytics (website only) | Website usage statistics |
| Meta (website only) | Measuring and targeting our Facebook and Instagram ads (see section 2) |
| Mapbox | Map images in the app |
| Conceit | Cellular connectivity (SIM service) for the controller. ChoiceIOT and its carrier partners process the controller’s connection data, such as SIM and modem IDs, data use and network information |
| WooCommerce | Our online store at geteverwatch.com |
| Stripe and PayPal | Payment processing. Each also handles payment data under its own privacy policy |
| Apple and Google | Sign-in, only if you choose Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, and app and push-notification delivery |
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, unless the law requires or allows longer.
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Vessel sensor and engine readings, in full detail | 14 days |
| Vessel sensor and engine readings, as summaries | 12 months |
| Daily vessel data summaries | 3 years from the date of the reading |
| Bilge pump, float switch and shore power activity | 12 months |
| Vessel GPS track (location history) | 180 days |
| Alert events and alert delivery records | 1 year |
| Raw AI responses | 30 days |
| Maintenance log entries, tasks, photos and files | Until deleted. Deleted items are permanently removed after 90 days |
| Log exports and share links | 7 days |
| Invitations | Expire after 7 days |
| Server logs | 14 days |
| Account information (sign-in, profile, vessel memberships, alert settings) | While your account is open. Deleted within 30 days after you delete your account, except customer and payment information (see below and section 8) |
| Customer information (name, contact details, billing/shipping address, and order and account records needed for tax, accounting and legal purposes) | About 7 years |
| Payment information (transaction records; your card details are held by our payment processor, not by us) | About 7 years |
What a summary is. After 14 days we replace the detailed readings with summaries. For readings that vary, such as a temperature or a voltage, we keep the lowest, highest and average for each period. For on/off readings, such as a bilge pump or a float switch, we keep how many times it changed, how long it was on, and its last state. For running totals, such as engine hours, we keep the latest and the highest figure. We keep the daily summaries so you can compare a season with the same season in earlier years.
Events, alarms and door records are never summarized. We keep each alert event, alarm, and door opening and closing in full, with its date and time, for the periods shown above. Door openings and closings are kept in full because they are a security record for your vessel.
After account or vessel deletion. The active-service retention periods above (for example, the 14-day and 180-day rows) apply while an account or vessel is active. Once an account or vessel is deleted, any remaining data is deleted within 30 days, except customer and payment information, which we keep for about 7 years as shown above. See section 8.
Backups
We back up our production databases every night and keep each nightly backup for 45 days. We also keep weekly backups for two months.
Information deleted from the live Services can therefore remain in backups for up to about two months, until those backups expire. We do not use backups to restore deleted information except to recover from a system failure or data loss.
8. Deleting your account and other requests
Delete your account
- In the app: go to Account → Delete account.
- By email: write to privacy@geteverwatch.com from the email address on your account.
After you delete your account:
- Within 30 days, we delete all remaining data associated with your account and vessels — this includes your personal information (sign-in, profile, vessel memberships, alert settings and contact entries, phone push registrations, saved card references and AI permission) and your vessels’ data (maintenance log, telemetry, GPS track and files) — except customer and payment information.
- Customer information (your name, contact details, billing/shipping address, and order and account records we need for tax, accounting and legal purposes) and payment information (transaction records; your card details are held by our payment processor, not by us) are kept for about 7 years.
- If your vessel has other members, deleting the owner’s account still starts this same 30-day deletion of the vessel’s data, unless ownership of the vessel is transferred to another member first. If members want to keep using the vessel and its history, they should ask the owner to transfer ownership before the owner’s account is deleted.
- Backups expire on the schedule in section 7.
Selling your boat
Vessel data is deleted 30 days after the owner’s account is deleted, unless ownership is transferred first. Before you sell your boat or stop using it, transfer ownership of the vessel to the new owner in the app, or contact us at privacy@geteverwatch.com. We can help you export your maintenance log, delete it, or transfer the controller and vessel to the new owner.
Your other choices and rights
You can email privacy@geteverwatch.com to ask us to:
- give you access to, or a copy of, your personal information;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- withdraw a permission you gave, such as AI processing.
We may need to verify your identity first. We will respond within 30 days, or tell you if we need more time.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, such as certain US state privacy laws or the laws of your country. We will honor them as required, and we will not treat you differently for using them. If you are unhappy with our response, you can contact your local data protection authority.
Alerts, messages and permissions
- Each person can turn their own push, email, text and call alerts on or off in the app.
- Reply STOP to any EverWatch text message to stop text messages (section 9).
- You can turn off location, camera, photos, Bluetooth and notification access in your phone’s settings. Some features may then not work.
- The vessel’s GPS cannot be turned off, because location is needed for the map, anchor alarm and geofence.
9. Text messages (SMS)
EverWatch sends text messages about your vessel, such as alarms (for example high water, bilge pump running or shore power lost), repeat alerts for unacknowledged alarms, alarm updates and service notices about your account or controller. We do not send marketing text messages.
Opting in
- You opt in to EverWatch text messages when you turn on text alerts for yourself in the EverWatch app, or when you add your own mobile number as an alert contact and choose text messages.
- If you add another person’s mobile number, you confirm that they have agreed to receive EverWatch text messages and calls about your vessel at that number, and that you will tell them how to opt out.
- Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of buying any EverWatch product or service.
- Message frequency varies with the alarms and events on your vessel.
Opting out and help
- Reply STOP to any EverWatch text message to stop receiving text messages at that number. We will send one message confirming that you have been unsubscribed. After that, you will not receive further text messages from EverWatch at that number unless you opt in again.
- To opt in again, reply START, or turn text alerts back on in the app.
- You can also turn text alerts off at any time in the app, under the vessel’s alert settings, or by emailing support@geteverwatch.com.
- Reply HELP for help, or contact support@geteverwatch.com.
- Important: if you opt out of text messages, you will not receive alarm texts. Alerts will still be sent by the other channels you have turned on, such as push notifications, email or phone calls.
Message and data rates
Message and data rates may apply. Any charges for receiving text messages, or for data used by the app, are set by the recipient’s mobile carrier and plan, and are the responsibility of the account holder for that mobile number. EverWatch does not charge for text messages. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Consent under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)
By turning on text or call alerts, or by providing a mobile number for alerts, you give EverWatch your express consent to send informational text messages and to place calls, including automated and prerecorded calls, to that number about your vessel and account. You confirm that you are the subscriber or customary user of the number, or that you have the permission of the subscriber or customary user to give this consent. You agree to tell us promptly if the number changes hands or is no longer yours. To the extent permitted by law, you agree not to bring claims against EverWatch under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act or similar laws for messages or calls sent to a number you provided before you opted out or told us that the number changed. You can withdraw your consent at any time as described above.
How we handle your mobile number
- We use your mobile number only to send the alerts and service messages described in this policy.
- Text messages and calls are delivered by our service provider Twilio.
- We do not sell, rent or share mobile numbers or text-message opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. This excludes the service providers that deliver messages for us.
10. Security
We protect information with:
- encryption in transit;
- private cloud storage that is encrypted at rest;
- a separate security certificate for each controller;
- access limited to the staff and providers who need it.
No system is completely secure. Please keep your password safe. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
11. Children
The Services are intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or use the Services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, contact privacy@geteverwatch.com and we will delete it.
12. International users
EverWatch is based in the United States, and we and our service providers store and process information mainly in the United States. Some providers may process it in other countries where they operate.
If you use the Services from outside the United States, for example while cruising in the Bahamas, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. The data protection laws there may differ from those where you live. We protect your information as described in this policy wherever it is processed.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on geteverwatch.com with a new effective date.
If we make significant changes, we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. This includes new uses of AI, and new kinds of sharing.
